About us
PLANES architects is a studio working with architecture, interior design and object design. At the core of our practice is a focus on people and context through form, function and materials. Our work is built on a dialogue with the client and structured into clear stages — we move from idea to realization step by step, turning initial chaos into a coherent and beautiful narrative. Our studio brings together experienced professionals, including a current tutor at the British Higher School of Art and Design on the BA Architecture and Interior Design programme. This allows us to turn collaboration with young designers into a truly functional symbiosis: PLANES architects is a platform for their growth. We provide practical knowledge and hands-on experience that are applied directly in real projects, while the studio receives from students an invaluable source of creative energy — an “elixir” of ongoing innovation. In this way, on the one hand we help students find their path in the profession (many of them continue working with us), and on the other hand the studio itself is constantly nourished by new ideas and fresh creative drive.

We get to know the client and the space, analyse the brief, budget and timing, collect measurements and photos, and define functional scenarios and requirements.
We develop layout options and the overall idea of the project: spatial structure, key references, colour palette and main materials.
We detail the concept into drawings, specifications and visualisations, selecting finishes, furniture, lighting and equipment to create a clear “manual” for construction.
We supervise implementation, consult contractors, adjust solutions when needed and help with procurement so that the built space matches the original design as closely as possible.

The conference club is located in a former bank space that we have transformed into a venue for business meetings. While preserving its sense of solidity, the interior has acquired a cosy English‑inspired character with an old‑money feel: dark wood panelling, a fireplace, textiles in complex shades, and soft, layered lighting. The layout divides the club into a main meeting area and more intimate corners for private conversations. As a result, the space remains representative but not formal: it works equally well for official meetings and for informal discussions over coffee or a glass of wine.

The interior of the house in Luzhki is a delicate transformation of a space built in the late 1990s – early 2000s. We worked with strict constraints in terms of interventions and budget, so we kept the existing layout but completely rebooted the atmosphere with minimal means: we redesigned the heart of the house — the kitchen — repainted the walls, changed the lighting, toned the flooring, reupholstered the armchairs and sofa, and strengthened the accents with decor.

The apartment in the residential complex “Chkalov” is an example of how furniture and details can highlight the strengths of an existing fit‑out. The space was neutral and impersonal, and our task was to give it the character of its owners without interfering with the architecture or engineering. The interior is built around panoramic views and natural light: a calm backdrop of walls and floors is complemented by textured textiles, a generous sofa and discreet built‑in furniture, while the accents come from lighting and art pieces. The result is an apartment with a distinct face and a character that reflects its owner.
